And I say again. I will never wade more than knee deep into the Ocean. Maybe even less. I would have loved to have been on that boat though. I have to confess I never realized the staggering amount of pure ignorance about other forms of life that exists these days. Urban dwelling folks who have never had to share space with wildlife more dangerous than a Raccoon are all too easily misinformed about how dangerous animals can be. The Internet is a double-edged sword at times. (Dee)
I agree. People hear about a huge variety of stuff, but they don't always get a real understanding of what they're hearing.
I too would love to be on that boat. Sometimes it isn´t so much about ignorance- more of a deep obsession. Like those people who crave climbing mountains even if they are fully aware they may lose fingers, toes, nose, ears or life in the process. I wouldn´t attempt to climb the Everest even if they paid me- but I would gladly pay to swim with sharks. Guess we are all mad... just in different ways.
That reminds me of a surfer I read about in researching my shark project. He has encountered great whites in the water many times. His tactic for discouraging them is to swim directly at them. They seem to find it disconcerting. I don't think I'l be trying his method. . . although, actually, I'm more scared of surfing than of sharks.
