In Bengal, India, elephants and people are in violent competition for the same food and land. Elephants have recently killed two people in the area.
Villagers attack tuskers - The Times of India:
"Apprehending retaliation from the tuskers, the villagers have also erected watch towers on 30-40 ft high trees to keep an eye on the movement of the animals."We have made watch towers where villagers - with torches and cell phones - watch the movement of tuskers at night," said a local, Saroj Mahto, adding that hundreds of villages are ready to fight the tuskers when informed."
